An AIA-Orange County Society lecture by the eminent paleoanthropologist
Dr. Donald Johanson on May 5, 2010 was co-sponsored by, and held at, the prestigious National Academy of Science and Engineering in Irvine, CA, as part of their Distinctive Voices series. The lecture was the largest attendance ever for our
AIA-OC Society.  Over 385 people were accommodated at the Beckman Center (see photo), while over 150-200 folks had to be turned away.   After the lecture Dr. Johanson signed books and happily obliged in photo ops with lecture attendees.  All agreed that it was the most prestigious and well publicized event that our society has ever held.

Dr. Johanson said it was one of the best lecture experiences he has ever had and hopes to continue a relationship with our society.

On Saturday, April 24, 2010, fourteen members and friends of the AIA-OC Society toured the grounds of the Getty Villa in Malibu, CC and had a docent tour of the exciting exhibition: "The Aztec Pantheon and the Art of Empire."
Photo #1 shows our group at the Getty Villa. Photo #2 shows a large "green stone" sculpture of an Aztec Warrior.
